Scotland Put In A Battling Display To Earn A 1 1 Draw With Switzerland In Their Second Euro 2024 Group A Match

Scotland draw 1-1 with Switzerland

Scotland put in a battling display to earn a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in their second Euro 2024 Group A match.

Breel Embolo gave the Swiss the lead after 23 minutes, but Lyndon Dykes levelled for Scotland just before half-time.

The draw leaves Scotland third in Group A, level on points with Switzerland and one point behind leaders Spain.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke made two changes to the team that lost 2-0 to Spain in their opening match, with Scott McTominay and Nathan Patterson coming in for Stuart Armstrong and Anthony Ralston.

Switzerland started the match brightly and took the lead through Embolo, who fired home from close range after being set up by Granit Xhaka.

Scotland responded well to going behind and Dykes levelled the match just before half-time, heading home from a Ryan Fraser cross.

Scotland continued to press for a winner in the second half, but they were unable to find a way through the Swiss defence.

The draw leaves Scotland with a chance of reaching the knockout stages, but they will need to beat Croatia in their final group match and hope that other results go their way.

Scotland will take on Croatia in their final Group A match on Tuesday, June 25.
