Extension Keeps Promising Center in New York

Free agent center Mitchell Robinson has re-signed with the New York Knicks on a four-year, $60 million contract, according to his agents Thad Foucher and Joe Smith of Wasserman.

Contract Details

The contract includes $60 million guaranteed, with an average annual salary of $15 million. Robinson also has a player option for the fourth year of the deal.

This deal makes Robinson the 104th highest-paid player in the NBA.

Robinson's Value to the Knicks

Robinson, a 23-year-old defensive specialist, has emerged as a key piece for the Knicks in recent seasons. Despite being injury-prone, Robinson has shown exceptional abilities as a rim protector and rebounder.

In the 2022-23 season, Robinson averaged 8.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game.

Knicks' Commitment to Building a Contender

The Knicks' decision to sign Robinson to a long-term deal signals their commitment to building a competitive team around young talent.

In addition to Robinson, the Knicks have also made significant investments in R.J. Barrett, Jalen Brunson, and Obi Toppin.

With a promising core and a large amount of cap space still available, the Knicks are poised to make a significant impact in the Eastern Conference in the years to come.
